Event

Race office and bib numbers

The race office is located in the event area in Meripuisto. You can pick up your bib number and late register to the event at the race office.

Race office schedules will be announced as the event approaches.

We highly recommend picking up your bib number on Friday to avoid queues at the race office on the morning of the race.

You will receive an email and a text message before the race office opens on Friday, with a QR code, with which you can pick up your bib number. Please be ready to show the QR code to the staff when you arrive at the race office . You can also pick up your friend´s number by showing their QR-code.

Bag storage

There is a free bag storage for all the runners, located in the event area in Meripuisto.

Bag storage is open on race day.

You can leave your belongings in bag drop in the special bag you get when you pick up your bib number. Remember to have the sticker of your number on the string of the bag. You will get your belongings from the bag drop by showing your running number, so keep it safe!

Timing and timing chip

Timing is organized by chip timing. Timing chip is placed to the bib number. Each runner must attach the bib on the front of their shirt and it must be displayed there throughout the race. The bib must not be folded. You do not need to return the chip after the race.

Bib numbers are personal, running with another runner’s bib number is strictly forbidden for security reasons.

Every runner will receive gross and net times. Results are based on net time.

Time limit and cut off points

The maximum time for the Björn Borg Helsinki Half Marathon is 3:10 for the half marathon and 1:05 for the 5 km (from the starting gun). Please note that the start closes 5 minutes after the starting gun!

In order for runners to arrive at the finish line within the given time for the half marathon, they must be at the CUT OFF points by the deadline. If the time is exceeded, the organizer cannot guarantee the participant a time for the performance, placement and finish/drink supply. The route will be closed to runners who do not arrive at the CUT OFF points within the given time. There are no separate CUT OFF points on the route for the 5 km.

Half marathon CUT OFF points and final arrival time will be announced as the event approaches.

There are preliminarily five (5) hydration stations along the course of Björn Borg Helsinki Half Marathon:

4,5 km Laivastokuja, Katajanokka: sports drink + water
8,0 km Vilhovuorenkatu, Suvilahti: sports drink + water
11,5 km Dallapénpuisto park: sports drink + water + extra energy
15 km Töölönlahti (north): 
sports drink + water
18 km Baana (south): 
sports drink + water

At the refreshment stations, the serving order in the running direction is: 1. extra energy (only at selected stations, about 50 m before the drinks), 2. Own drinks (only at selected stations), 3. Sports drink, 4. Water. 

There will also be hydration as well as other snacks from our partners available at the finish line.

Please drop all your rubbish at the drinking stations or bins and not along the route – let’s keep the streets clean together!

Trash on the route

Please take care of your trash at the refreshment points and along the route. There is trash within 100 meters of each hydration station, after that runners must take care of the trash themselves to next hydration station or other trash along the route.

A runner may be disqualified if a member of the organizing organization observes a runner throwing trash on the ground.

OWN DRINKS

On half marathon route is possibility to bring your own drinks to selected hydration stations. You can bring your own drinks to the three hydration stations, which are:

4,5 km Laivastokuja, Katajanokka
11,7 km Teollisuuskatu, Vallilla
17,5 km South end of the Baana

Own drinks must be dropped off at our stand next to the race office, in Meripuisto, by 4 p.m. on Friday 5.6. Bottles must be marked with runner’s name and the hydration station you’d like us to transport them to. We will transport all marked bottles to the hydration stations for race day. Own bottles can be found at the first table on Laivastonkuja and Baana. On Teollisuuskatu, you can find your own bottles at the second table.

Hydration stations and finish line service

There are five (5) hydration stations along the half marathon route. The drink stations will serve sports drink and water. 

The order of service at the hydration stations in the running direction is first sports drink and then water.

The 2027 hydration points will be published as the event approaches.

7,6 km Vilhovuorenkatu, Suvilahti: SPORTS DRINK AND WATER

Björn Borg Helsinki Half Marathon has a maximum running time of 3:10 for half marathon and 1:05 for 5 km (from the official start time).

If a runner can’t keep the pace, we can’t unfortunately guarantee timing and service on the route or finish. Organizer will remove from the route those runners who are unable to keep up the pace to reach the finish within the maximum running time.

Pace makers

Björn Borg Helsinki Half Marathon offers again a great range of pacers. Pacers will run at a stable pace at the event targeting to specific finishing times.

Pacers will help you to reach your goal and maintain a steady pace throughout your run.

We will have pacemakers for the following preliminary paces:

Half marathon:
1.20, 1.25, 1.30, 1.35, 1.40, 1.45, 1.50, 1.55, 2.00, 2.05, 2.10, 2.15, 2.20, 2.30, 2.45, 3.00

5 km:
20:00, 22:30, 25:00, 30:00, 35:00, 45:00

firts aid

There is a first aid station in the immediate vicinity of the finish area and roving units on the route.

In case of first aid situations on the route, contact the nearest member of the organizations that help can be directed to the right location.

if you withdraw from the race

Participants don not need to report their withdrawal. Please do not arrive in the immediate vicinity of the finish line with your race number if you have withdrawn from the race.

If a participant is unable to get off the route and back to the event area on their own after withdrawal, for example due to injury or extreme exhaustion, they must contact the nearest member of the organization who will arrange a return ride.

Medals

Each runner will be awarded a medal and partner products at the finish line.

Also in general series (Men and Women) top 3 runners will be awarded, in age group the winners. 

Medal engraving

Would you like to immortalize the memory of your run on the back of your medal? You can do so at the medal engraving point in the event area after the race.
 
The engraving cost is 19€ /medal. Your name and finish time will be engraved. Please have your race number ready when you come to the engraving station.

Toilets and showers

Toilets and changing room tents are available at the event area in Meripuisto, and toilets also at the refreshment stations.

Showers are available for runners on the day of the event at Töölö Sports Hall, located at Paavo Nurmen kuja 1c Helsinki. Runners can enter the Töölö Sport Hall by showing their race number or medal at the cashier. 

Töölö Sports Hall´s cashier is open on the day of the event from 10:00 to 16:00 and the doors close at 17:15

Elite runners

We offer free participation to the event for elite runners who have run under the following times in 2026-2027:

Men:

5000 m / 5 km: 15.45
10000 m / 10 km: 33.00
Half marathon: 1.12.00

Women:

5000 m / 5 km: 18.15
10000 m / 10 km: 38.15
Half marathon: 1.22.00

To apply for a free registration as an elite runner, please send us an email to tapahtumat at runhigh.fi with details about your qualifying result (name of event, your time, link to results). The result must be from an official road or track race in 2026-2027.

Headphones while running

Please only use the headphones in one ear while running and turn off active noise cancellation so that you can hear instructions along the route.

travelling to meripuisto

We encourage participants to arrive to Meripuisto by means of public transport. Meripuisto is served by both trams and buses, and you can easily plan your route using HSL Journey Planner.

There is some paid on-street parking in the nearby areas, but if you arrive by car, please allow enough time to find a parking space and to reach the event area. We recommend taking use of the city center’s parking garages or HSL park-and-ride facilities.

Rules

The Participant agrees to comply with the organizers’ rules and instructions on the day of the competition.

SUSTAINABILITY

There are recycling bins for different materials, as well as deposit bottles, at the event area – please sort your waste. Please do not litter along the route: dispose of your waste in the bins located at the drink stations. The event’s drinking cups can be recycled with cardboard.

Björn Borg Helsinki Half Marathon is EcoCompass certified.

Email with race number will be sent to all the registered participants before the race office opens. If you haven’t received the email (remember to check you spam folder as well!), no worries! Race office will find your number also by your name. Just show up to race office to pick up your number, and we are ready to help 🙂

Yes, you can! Just choose ‘sport vouchers’ as payment method after you’ve made the registration, and follow the instructions.

If you have made your sport voucher payment to Helsinki Half Marathon Oy, then it should be fine. If there is any problem with your payment, we will contact you before the event. Don’t hesitate to contact us by email (tapahtumat@runhigh.fi) if you have any questions.
